1938 Monark Silverking Men’s Super Deluxe Model M137 – “Wingbar”

Purchased this bike from a collector in the S.F. Bay Area.  One of the easiest restorations I have ever done because only the fenders needed to be painted. This was the first all aluminum ( aircraft quality Duralumin) bike made and sold in the U.S.  Known as a “Wingbar” to collectors”.  I polished all the aluminum parts and used a custom blue metallic paint for the fenders.  This bike is like an Elgin Bluebird because all the parts were custom to this bike and were not interchangeable with other Monark bike models.  The unique parts on this bike include the following:  fender light, rear carrier, tail light, Troxel Tool Box saddle, butterfly kick stand, locking front fork, battery light holder and “Wingbar” frame.   The embossed eagle wing on the solid aluminum top bar is an Art Deco masterpiece.  This is only bike I have ever wanted to keep. Sold to a collector in Long Beach, CA.
